The information in the table below provides a method of converting between American, European and United Kingdom dress and suit sizes.
Example A Size 8 Dress in th U.K. would be most similar to a size 34 dress on continental europe or size 6 in the U.S.
U.S. | European | U.K. | Japan |
0 | 28 | 2 | 3 |
2 | 30 | 4 | 5 |
4 | 32 | 6 | 7 |
6 | 34 | 8 | 9 |
8 | 36 | 10 | 11 |
10 | 38 | 12 | 13 |
12 | 40 | 14 | 15 |
14 | 42 | 16 | 17 |
16 | 44 | 18 | 19 |
18 | 46 | 20 | 21 |
20 | 48 | 22 | 23 |
As you can see there is a consistent relationship between the sizes. A dress in the U.K would be 2 sizes larger than in the U.S., in Japan one size larger than in the U.K. or three sizes larger than the equivalent in the U.S. but the European scale starts much higher and is always 28 greater than the equivalent U.S. size.
